Challenge – A demanding handling task
The customer needed a safe, efficient and operator-friendly way to manage heavy tanks during inspection.
Before contacting MH Lift, they had explored several alternatives, such as fork lifts and crane arms, but each option came with significant drawbacks:
- too space-consuming
- too complicated to operate
- too physically demanding for the operator
MH Lift quickly spotted that standard equipment was no match and started to think in terms of a customised solution.
Approach – Close dialogue and hands-on testing
Working closely with the customer, MH Lift analysed the operator’s workflow step by step to understand the real challenges in the process.
To validate ideas and gather insights, a standard demo unit was sent to the site for testing. This on-site trial provided essential feedback about:
- ergonomic needs
- positioning requirements
- overall handling flow
Based on these insights, our engineering team customised the solution in detail — ensuring improved ergonomics, precise positioning and minimal manual effort, without compromising safety or productivity.
Solution – A customised handling unit integrated into the production flow
The final solution was a customised Reel Rotator unit, integrated into the customer’s existing production setup. See video!
Installed on guide rails embedded in the floor, the unit enables the operator to:
- move the tanks smoothly along the workflow
- rotate them safely for inspection
- perform the entire process without forklifts, steering, or additional operators
The result is a clean, controlled and highly ergonomic handling process.
