With its new LogiRobot, Logitrans questions the industry’s focus on full automation. Instead, the company promotes an 80/20 approach, automating repetitive pallet transport without relying on IT integration, and aiming to reduce implementation time, risk and project complexity.

Logitrans challenges 100% automation with an 80/20 approach

With the launch of LogiRobot, Logitrans introduces a new perspective on automation: focus on what creates value – and avoid the complexity of the last 20%.

Research reveals* that the final part of automation if often what drives projects off track, increasing costs, risk, and implementation time.

Rather than developing another fully automated warehouse solution, the Danish manufacturer has taken a different route. LogiRobot is built on an 80/20 approach to pallet transport, where the majority of the process is automated — without the need for Wi-Fi, ERP integration, or large-scale IT projects.

“We see many companies investing in full automation before they are ready for it – both organisationally and operationally. The result is often long implementation processes and budgets that escalate,” says Gitte Kirkegaard, CEO of Logitrans.

With more than 85 years of experience in material handling, Logitrans has built a strong understanding of how technology performs in real operations. That insight forms the basis for the company’s approach.

A visible choice

One of the most distinctive features of LogiRobot is its handle.

While many automation solutions aim to eliminate manual interaction entirely, Logitrans has chosen the opposite.

“For some, the handle signals something less than full automation. For us, it is a deliberate choice. It represents flexibility and control. The operator can take over at any time and adapt the task to the situation,” says Gitte Kirkegaard.

The goal, she explains, is not maximum automation – but the right level of automation.

Automation where it matters

LogiRobot is designed for repetitive pallet transport over longer distances – for example between goods reception, buffer zones, production, and finished goods storage.

These are the processes where time and manual resources are typically consumed – and where automation can create immediate value.

With LogiRobot, the operator collects the pallet, and the transport is carried out automatically to its destination.

The principle is simple: automate the transport that does not add value – without turning the solution into a complex integration project.

“Many automation projects become complex because they are designed to fit into the entire system landscape from day one. We have focused on creating a solution that integrates quickly into the layout and operates independently. This reduces both implementation time and overall risk,” says Gitte Kirkegaard.

At the same time, the semi-automated approach allows companies to adjust routes and workflows continuously – without major technical changes.

Designed for real operations

According to Logitrans, the approach is rooted in real-world experience, where fully automated solutions do not always match the dynamic nature of warehouse and production environments.

“When you aim for 100% automation from the beginning, the requirements for stability and consistency become extremely high. But reality changes every day – volumes fluctuate, routes shift, and tasks evolve. This is often where projects become more expensive and time-consuming than expected,” says Gitte Kirkegaard.

She emphasises that the ambition is not to reduce automation – but to build it step by step.

“We believe companies should start where the value is clear and implementation is manageable. Once that foundation is in place, they can build further. Automation is not just about technology – it is also about maturity.”

Logitrans is a Danish manufacturing company developing and producing equipment for internal material handling, including pallet trucks, stackers, and automation solutions for warehouses and production. The company exports globally.
